Learning Disability Devon Designed by people with a learning disability for people with a learning disability

About Friendship Groups

  • Many people with a learning disability have told us they often get lonely and find it difficult to make friends.

  • They also said they find it hard to find out what is going on in their communities because information is difficult to understand.

  • We talked about this at the Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board.

  • We wrote  a P.A.T.H (plan)  (Planning alternative tomorrows with hope) pl to help people make more friends.

  • People told us they are lonely and would like the  opportunity to enjoy living in Devon more.

  • To enjoy their towns and countryside and what they have to offer.

  • Many people would feel more confident going out if they had people to see and places they could go with friends.Feeling comfortable that they are with people who know them and also in places that they are known.

  • The project aims to create community inclusion by connecting people and places through activity.
