Health and Social Care Group meetings 2025-2026

  • April 7th 2025: A council Scrutiny Officer came to talk to the group about voting in the local May elections. He explained how a local election differs from a general election. He also talked through reasonable adjustments people can ask for to help them vote.

  • April 28th 2025: A Teaching and Learning Manager and a Curriculum Officer from Learn Devon came to speak to the group. We discussed how courses are promoted (how people learn about them) and suggested ideas for future courses.

  • May 19th 2025:  A Senior Policy and Executive Support Officer came to the group to ask them to quality check some draft easy read council policy descriptions.

  • June 9th 2025: The council’s Lead Best Interest Assessor came to the group to share a new easy read explaining Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. These are known as DoLS for short.

  • June 23rd 2025: A Senior Officer from the council came to share KPIs for care homes. KPI is short for key performance indicator. KPIs are a measuring tool. The group checked the suggested KPIs to make sure that they will support care homes to give good care and support to their residents. They also came up with suggestions for what they thought was missing.

  • June 30th 2025: A Together and Carer Lead from DPT came back to the group to share an update on the Trust’s 5 priorities in the final version of their Together Strategy. The strategy looks at how DPT will work in a co-productive way with patients and people with lived experience of mental health.

  • July 7th 2025: The council’s Assistant Director for Disabilities came to the group. She wanted to learn what information they would like to help them set and achieve outcomes with support from adult social care.

  • July 14th 2025: A Project Manager, A Together and Carer Lead and a Consultant Psychiatrist from DPT came to the group to share the Trust’s Clinical Strategy.

  • July 28th 2025: A Professional Lead Nurse from DPT came to share the Trust’s current Friends and Family Test with the group. She wanted to know if the form needed updating.

  • September 8th 2025: The Head of Childrens Improvement and Commissioning and Women and Children Commissioning from NHS Devon ICB is coming to the group. The group would like to discuss creating a reasonable adjustment form for parents with individual needs supporting their children at medical appointments and reviews.
  • October 13th 2025: A Teaching and Learning Manager and a Curriculum Officer from Learn Devon are coming back to the group. This is so they can update them on changes they have made to how they promote courses for people with learning disabilities.
  • October 27th 2025: A council Disability Lead is coming to the group to discuss the best way of presenting information at the Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB). The group will also talk about the purpose of the LDPB pre-meet and the need for presentations to be ready early. This is so attendees can look through the slides in advance and plan their questions.
