Health and Social Care Group meetings 2023-2024

  • January 9th 2023: We met with a council Project Manager and Senior Website Product Manager to help test the search feature of new Care and Health webpages.

  • January 30th 2023: A Business Change Manager and a Project Manager from Devon County Council came to the group to ask for help. Group members were asked to design a form to be used to get feedback on reviews.

  • Housing Options
    February 13th 2023: A Senior Commissioning Officer from Devon County Council ran an user engagement on Housing with support. The group looked at an accessible Supported Living specification and shared their own experiences of being in supported living.

  • February 27th 2023: As our guest was unable to attend the group we used the time to review previous Learning Disability Partnership Board meetings and suggest new inputs.

  • March 20th 2023: We met with a council Project Manager and a Creative Services Manager to give feedback on changes made to the council’s Care and Health webpages.

  • Housing Options
    March 27th 2023: A Senior Commissioning Officer came back to the group to show what they had done with feedback given on the easy read Supported Living specification.

  • April 24th 2023: A police officer from the Diverse Communities Team and the council’s Head of Communities came to the group. They listened to issues people are experiencing in the community which leave them feeling unsafe. For example: disablist and racial hate crime.

  • May 22nd 2023: A Learning Disability Liaison Nurse, a doctor and a Resuscitation Training Officer came from the RD&E to speak to the group.

  • June 12th 2023: A User Research Manager from the council came to speak to the group. We talked about:
    • How people get in touch with Devon County Council.
    • Things that make it hard to contact the council.
    • What can make it easier for people to contact the council.

  • June 26th 2023: A Community Engagement Manager came to the group for help. We discussed what would make it easier for people with learning disabilities to report domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

    July 3rd 2023: A draft easy read booklet was shared with the group which looked at what to expect from a supported living provider.

  • July 17th 2023: We had a talk about the Exeter based Safety of Women at Night Charter. There was also a presentation on the new Oliver McGowan training from Living Options Devon.

  • September 4th 2023: The group met to prepare for the Learning Disability Partnership Board on September 18th.

  • September 25th 2023: A campaigner from Stamp out Spiking came to the group to talk about spiking and what to do if you think you’ve been spiked.

  • October 9th 2023: Members of the council’s Co-production Working Group came to talk about Co-production.

  • October 23rd 2023: The DIVAS (a group of women with learning disabilities and autism) came to talk to the Health and Social Care Group about the Bill of Rights.

  • November 6th 2023: The group planned questions for the speakers at the November Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board.

  • November 13th 2023: The Jargon Busters Co-production Group met for a second time to plan a short film they would like to make.

  • December 4th 2023: A Senior Project Manager from the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust came to ask the group for help. She wanted to know what should go in the Trust’s new patient communication policy.

  • January 8th 2024 1:00pm-2:00pm The Jargon Busters Co-production Group will meet again.
  • January 15th 2024: Leads from the Devon Partnership Trust will come to the group to talk about the new mental health unit being built in Dawlish.
  • January 22nd 1:00pm-2:30pm: The group will be planning questions for speakers at the February Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board.
  • February 26th 2024: The DIVAS will revisit the group to further explore the Bill of Rights.
