Devon’s Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (plan) is called Healthy and Happy Communities.

The plan includes information about the work we will be doing to improve peoples health and wellbeing in Devon.

- Healthy outcomes and health equality in Devon will be one of the best in the world.
- We will work with Devon’s communities and organisations to help make this happen.

This means we want people in Devon to be as healthy and happy as they can be.

To focus on prevention and getting people help early across health, care and wellbeing.

Support voluntary and community organisations in improving peoples health and wellbeing.

Carry on supporting the role of the public in developing services.

Be aware that people are different and provide more help to those who need it most.

Work to ensure that people in Devon have access to the health and care information and support they need, when they need it.

Support work across the community to help individuals and families with more complex needs.

Develop the wider health and wellbeing workforce (staffing).

Our Priorities – what is most important.

Priority 1. Create opportunities for everyone.

Everyone to do well in school and learn new skills.

Less children living in poverty, this means not having enough money to live a good life.

Support poorer areas in Devon to grow (Poorer areas may have poor housing, not many jobs and lack of opportunities).

Make it easier for people to improve how they live by giving more opportunities.

Priority 2. Have healthy, safe and strong communities that support good health and wellbeing where we live, work and learn.

Improve housing and have less people who are homeless.

Opportunities for good health, keeping active and social opportunities.

Support healthy workplaces and schools.

Help keep communities and people safe.

Priority 3. Focus on mental health helping people to have good mental health and wellbeing

Reduce loneliness in all age groups.

Provide help to improve peoples poor mental health as soon as possible.

For people to feel better about things that happened to them when they were a child.

Promote a positive approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Priority 4. Good Health for all – supporting people to stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

Help stop people getting ill by helping people to live healthier lives.

Find out if people are ill as early as possible.

Support people living with long term health problems to have a good quality of life.

Support carers to improve their own health and wellbeing.

Let people know about public health information that will help stop the spread of infectious disease.
An Infectious disease, is a disease that can spread from one person to another person.
