June 16th 2025 11:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-2:00pmĀ Board members were able to ask a Disability Lead and Reaching for Independence Manager questions they had on TECS. TECS is short for Technology Enabled Care and Support. There was also an update from the DIVAS on the new service that was being set up in Devon. DIVAS are women with learning disabilities and/or autism who have survived domestic abuse or sexual violence.

September 15th 2025 11:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-2:00pm: A Team Leader from the Arranging Support Team came to get feedback on accessible materials he had made on direct payments. The group were able to give him comments to help make the materials easier for people with learning disabilities to understand. There was also a Q&A session with the council’s new Deputy Director of Integrated Adult Social Care – Operations.

December 8th 2025 11:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-2:00pm: The December Board had to be cancelled. Planned agenda items will be moved to 2026.

February 23rd 2026 11:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-2:00pm: Members of the Health and Social Care Group will talk about barriers people with learning disabilities face when applying for an adult social care assessment. There will also be an update from a council Community Transport Advisor on new bus travel leaflets she was asked to create by Board members.

June 15th 2026 11:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-2:00pm: Questions raised by Board members at the February meeting on how to apply for an adult social care assessment will be answered by council staff. There will also be a presentation by Shared Lives South West. Shared Lives South West is an organisation that provides supported housing for people with learning disabilities, autism or mental health conditions.

September 14th 2026 11:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-2:00pm: A Learning Disability and Vulnerabilities Specialist from the Ambulance Service is coming to talk to the Board. She will update us on the launch of the LD and Autism Plan and discuss how the Service deals with frequent callers. There will also be an update by Health Innovation South West on work done to reduce harm from psychotropic medication prescribed to people with a learning disability. This type of medication is used to change a person’s behaviour.
Ideas for future Board agenda can be sent in to the Involvement Team.
